The FBI Virus has been spreading rapidly and is infecting hundreds of thousands of computers at an alarming rate. There are many forms of the FBI Virus and all of them share the same method of operation: you did something illegal and need to pay money. If your computer is infected with the FBI Virus you need to remove it immediately.
Update #3: There are even more variations of this virus appearing. Some of the variations include countdown timers and additional warnings.
Update #2: We have seen a sharp increase in the number of infections being spread. It appears that this virus is becoming even more malicious in the fact that it is becoming more difficult to conduct any kind of activity on your computer. We have also been monitoring whether or not this virus is transmitting your computer files to another location.
The individuals who wrote this malicious virus have actually been editing the code to make it more troublesome. They have also been changing the style of the notice and adding more webcam features. It is not uncommon to have a webcam screenshot on the notice. Also, the Moneypak payment method is still being used as a way to pay the fake fine. Of course do not pay the fine the FBI warning shows.
As we gather even more intelligence on the FBI virus we will update this page. Unfortunately, this virus keeps changing which means that the hackers who are behind this infection are hard at work making it more malicious. We are concerned that this virus may become even more malicious and will keep an eye out for additional changes.
As far as who is behind this virus we have no idea. I am sure that there are many people who are actively searching for the individuals responsible for the FBI hoax. Hopefully something can be done to stop this infection from spreading further.
